Seth can place an order for a caller. He finds each product the caller wants in your Shopify store, reads the whole order back, and sends the caller one link to your own checkout. The caller pays there, like any other order.
Seth never takes card details. Payment always happens on your store's checkout.
Turn it on
Open the Seth dashboard, go to Train and scroll to Skills.
Find Place orders and click Configure.
Click Turn on.
Callers can order from the next call.
If the popup says Seth can't create checkout links yet, click Allow in Shopify and approve the permission there. You land back in the popup afterwards.
If your store connects through a custom app, add the write_draft_orders permission to that app in Shopify instead. Seth picks it up within a day.
Text the link (optional)
By default the link goes by email. To also text it during the call, use your own Twilio account:
In the Place orders popup, switch on Text the link during the call.
Add your Twilio Account SID and Auth token, then click Connect.
Pick the number to send from. It needs to be a US, Canadian or Dutch number.
Send a test text to your own phone.
Seth texts the link once a test text has arrived. Callers on a US, Canadian or Dutch mobile get a text. Everyone else gets email.
How a call goes
A caller says what they want, for example "Can I order two of the lavender soaps and a gift box?"
Seth looks up each product in your store and checks the price and stock. If a product comes in colors or sizes, he asks which one.
Seth confirms each item with its price, then asks if they'd like anything else.
When the caller is done, Seth recaps the whole order with the total before shipping and tax. Shipping and tax show on the checkout.
Seth sends one checkout link with everything in it.
The caller opens the link and pays on your checkout.
Callers can change their mind at any point. They can add an item, drop one, change a size or a quantity, and Seth recaps the new order before he sends anything. If they change the order after the link went out, Seth sends a new link and the earlier one stops working.
If a product is sold out, Seth says so and offers what is available. If he can't find it, he asks the caller to describe it another way, then offers to pass it to your team.
Where the orders show up
Paid orders appear in Shopify like any other order, tagged
seth-phone-order.Unpaid ones wait under Orders, Drafts in Shopify. Nothing ships until someone pays.
In Ringly, a call with a paid order shows a green Sold badge in Call history, with the amount. Open the call and click Sold by Seth to see the order in Shopify.
The Analytics page shows Sold by Seth: orders Seth placed on a call that the caller then paid, counted on the day they paid. These are kept out of attributed revenue, so nothing is counted twice.
Good to know
One checkout link per call, with every product the caller ordered.
Seth never reads the link out loud.
Prices and stock come straight from Shopify at the moment of the call.
