Want to use Twilio with Ringly.io? This guide will help you set it up!

Why Use Twilio with Ringly.io?

It's pretty great! You can:

  • Send SMSes during phone calls (This guide)

  • Make phone calls with your own numbers (Other guide: Twilio for calls)

Sending SMSes in the US? requires an 'A2P 10DLC' registration. Read below how to do that.

Getting started

Ringly.io works with your Twilio account to let you make calls and send text messages. All you need are two things from your Twilio account:

  • Your SID (that's like your username)

  • Your Auth Token (that's like your password)

Finding Your Twilio Info

You can find your SID and Auth Token in your Twilio account. Twilio has a helpful guide that shows you exactly where to look.

In Ringly.io, go to the integrations page. Click on 'Connect to Twilio':

Then you'll see this:

To get your Account SID and Auth Token, log in to Twilio or create an account and go to your account info. In the bottom left you'll find the info you need to paste in the popup in Ringly.

Lastly, hit connect! You'll see that Twilio is connected, and you'll see the phone numbers in your Twilio account.

If you don't have a phone number yet to send SMSes from, click here to buy a phone number in Twilio.

Also, check out this guide on how to add the add SMS action in Ringly.io.

Compliance with Twilio's rules for SMSes

When using Twilio to send SMSes in the United States, you need to comply with their A2P 10DLC regulations.

Steps for Regulatory Compliance:

  • Create a 'regulatory bundle' through Twilio's console.

  • Submit the bundle for review and ensure all documentation is up to date.

Key Points on A2P Compliance:

  • Register your brand and campaign use case with The Campaign Registry.

  • Understand the different trust scores and message throughput associated with your campaign.

If Something Goes Wrong

When integrating Twilio with Ringly.io, It is usually:

1. A2P SMS compliance errors:

  • Non-compliance with A2P 10DLC could lead to message filtering or blocking.

  • Make sure that your messaging service aligns with the registered campaign.

2. Regulatory Compliance Errors:

  • Review and submit the correct documentation to make sure you can always use Twilio.
