How to get a phone number
Go to your Seth (or legacy custom agent), click on the "Deploy" tab and choose to connect to a phone number. Here you can choose the country you want to buy a phone number from, and specify the area code for US phone numbers. Or, if deploying Seth, you can also get a toll-free US/Canada phone number.
If you have the right one, click "get" and confirm to deploy to Seth. For custom legacy agents, you'll be redirected to the checkout for $5 per month.
After the number is obtained, the number should show near the agent's name (see below), and is ready to accept inbound calls if you have added it to an inbound agent. Give it a try by calling it!

What do phone numbers cost?
What do phone numbers cost?
Phone numbers are free for Seth AI support, but for custom agents they cost $5 per month per phone number if you buy it on the Ringly platform. Learn more on the pricing page. If you bring your own Twilio the phone numbers are as cheap as $1.15/mth
Do I need a phone number for every agent?
Do I need a phone number for every agent?
No, you don't! For outbound agents, you can share a phone number with another agent, so you don't need to pay for a separate one. This means that if you have 10 outbound agents, they can all make outbound calls using the same phone number. For inbound agents, you will need to buy a phone number for each one. For Seth, you have one phone number, which is just for Seth alone.

For phone numbers from some countries, the government requires you to provide information about you or your business before they let you buy a phone number, so we cannot buy it for you, unfortunately. If that is the case, you can buy a phone number in Twilio yourself and then import it to us.

If you have a well known phone number on your website and want to use Ringly.io, there are a couple of options:
1. Easy option: auto-forward your old number to your Ringly number โ You can create a Twilio account, buy a phone number and import it to Ringly. Then, in your current phone provider dashboard, set up call forwarding to your Twilio number:
Go to your current phone provider dashboard
Select the number you want to configure
Set up 'forward to external number' or 'Direct Inward Dialing (DID)' (how it's usually named) and enter your Twilio number
2. Hard option: Port your number from your Twilio account to ours โ First, create a Twilio account. Then contact the Porting Team of your current phone provider to obtain the correct information for your phone number. Inform the Porting Team that you specifically want to port your numbers to Twilio. Then port the number into Twilio (use this guide (you can ignore the part on A2P 10DLC campaign, thatโs for messaging)) and provide the information you received from current phone provider's Porting Team.
Note: Keep your current phone provider account active until the port-out procedure is completed. Also, this might mean that the number might not be reachable for a couple of days.
3. Easy option: Use Ringly's number โ A third and easy option is to get a phone number in Twilio, import it to Ringly, and swap the old phone number with the new one on your website/emails, etc.. Then forward calls from your current phone provider to the new number for 3-6 months (in case customers find the old number somewhere), and then cancel your current phone provider's plan.

For Seth you can get local numbers in US and Canada with every area code, and toll-free numbers in the US and Canada. For special phone numbers you can't find in the dashboard, you can buy them yourself by creating a Twilio acccount, buying a phone number and then import it to Ringly.io.
The address of the phone number cannot be validated, why?
The address of the phone number cannot be validated, why?
If buying a phone number that requires an address, you may experience this error: "The address you have provided cannot be validated. Make sure it's a business address." Twilio checks if the address you entered is connected to a business. If that is the case, then the issue is the format of the address.
Make sure that you have the fields formatted correctly:
Street: The number and street address of the address, e.g. 318 Ringly Rd
City: The city in which the address is located, e.g. Sydney
Postal code: The postal code of the address, e.g. 2120
Region: The state or region of the address, e.g. New South Wales
If all this doesn't work, just drop the address in the chat bottom-right and we'll add it for you!
